The game can be played with anywhere from seven to 14 players, all of whom place their chips in a banker’s area and a player’s area. The dealer then deals two cards to the Banker and the Player. A popular version of baccarat is called chemin de fer, which is very similar to baccarat but uses a different deck of cards and a smaller table. The rules of the game are very similar, however. The main difference between the two is that chemin de fer has an extra card which gives the player more opportunities to win. This card is known as the ninth card, and it can dramatically increase a player’s odds of winning when the hand is a 9 or a 10. The nine-card hand wins about 45.8% of the time and the player’s hand wins 44.6% of the time, while ties occur 9.6% of the time. This is a very low payout for the game, so bettors should try to avoid betting on the tie.
